Displair, a startup out of Russia, is an interactive air screen that combines an infrared camera, a projector, and cold fog to project 3D images and capture the user’s hand movements as they manipulate them. A user can “press” items to select them, swipe things to the side, and even use two hands and fingers to make objects larger or smaller, the 3D equivalent of multi-touch. The technology’s creators say that they can display 3D images naturally without the need of glasses. Even more impressive, the technology could see the true return of smell-o-vision by loading the vapor with custom scents that compliment the on-air action.
