Volkswagen recently unveiled a new concept called the Volkswagen Design Vision GTI, based on the latest generation Golf GTI, at Worthersee Festival in Austria.

The Vision GTI comes with a twin-turbocharged 3.0L TSI V6 good for 503hp and 413 lb-ft of torque. The result is a 0-62 time of just 3.9 seconds and onto a top speed of 186 mph. Channeling that power to all four wheels is Volkswagen’s patented DSG dual-clutch automatic. The Design Vision GTI was also reworked all around to cope with that extra power and speed, such as a specially reinforced chassis complete with various upgrades to the steering and the brakes. The suspension was widened and lowered, while a wide body kit festoons the exterior. The Design Vision GTI sits lower and wider than the stock Volkswagen GTI. Additionally, in the sketches, the concept builds upon the GTI’s famous C-pillar by incorporating it into a side gill that leads into the flared front wheel arches.
